For Concord Residents Only

The Town is in the process of updating its Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP). An Open Space and Recreation Plan inventories existing open space and recreation facilities and identifies needs of the community. This plan will assist in the maintenance and enhancement of the benefits of open space, both active and passive recreational facilities, to benefit the character of the community and protect its green infrastructure. Once completed, an OSRP is a powerful instrument to effect community goals. It establishes the community’s aspirations and recommends patterns of development that will support these goals.

Please take 20 minutes or so to complete the Open Space and Recreation Plan Survey by clicking on the link below. Your responses will help focus Town decisions regarding open space and recreational needs for Concord over the next seven years. Your input is imperative to assist the Town in developing a plan that realizes your needs. Surveys will be accepted through February 28, 2013. Please also forward the link below to anyone you think would be interested in filling out the survey.

Also, come join us at the Second Community Meeting on March 13, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the first floor conference room at 141 Keyes Road to provide additional input and to ensure your visions are appropriately addressed in the 2013 Open Space and Recreation Plan.

If you prefer to fill out a paper copy, hardcopies are available at the Town Offices, Libraries, Beede Center, Hunt’s Gym, and Council on Aging.

Thank you so much for helping with this important planning tool for Concord’s future.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Division of Natural Resources at 978-318-3285.

Volunteer Opportunities

Need Volunteers for newly created Sponsorship Committee

The FBFRT Board of Directors at its Aug-8th meeting approved the creation of a Sponsorship Committee, along with defined goals and structure as a way of garnering business sponsorship. The members of the Sponsorship Committee will be in charge of the logistics of garnering, approving, and implementing sponsorship agreements, as well a fund-raising for those who have the constitution for it. I am looking for volunteers to join me on the new Sponsorship Committee. It will be great way to get more involved with the Friends without a huge time commitment.

Contact me at tmichelman@comcast.net or 978-580-6190 if you are interested. I will make it as fun as possible.

Volunteer to be Trail Clean-Up Coordinator

We need someone to coordinate Trail Clean-ups on Phase 1. Getting volunteers for clean-up days is easy, the logistics are the work. Please help by volunteering to herd them cats for a handful of days throughout the year. Experienced Board Members will help you organize and plan. Contact me at tmichelman@comcast.net or 978-580-6190 if you are interested.

Ongoing: Trail Clean-up along Phase 1 of the Trail in Chelmsford and Westford. Contact info@brucefreemanrailtrail.org; Subject: BFRT Trail Crew
